ATTN: WOMEN OF THUSIA
Feb. 20th, 2012 01:13 amPlease, be advised, Diarmuid possess a curse in the form of a beauty-mark beneath his right eye that causes any woman who gazes upon him to fall in love with him unless they posses incredibly high resistance to magic.
IN THUSIA strong willed women will be able to resist falling in love with him. He will actually be grateful for this. Even not strong willed women will not have to fall in love with him. He will just have a strong attraction for them.
If you do not want to play with this, feel free to assume it will not effect you.

Feb. 19th, 2012 11:56 pmCharacter Name: Diarmuid Ua Duibhne | Lancer
Canon: Fate/Zero
References Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fate/zero
Age: Appears in his late 20s or early 30s
Appearance: http://images.wikia.com/typemoon/images/7/73/ZeroLancer.jpg
Diarmuid is tall with dark hair and golden eyes. He is incredibly handsome and bears a love-mark under his right right. He wears his unruly hair pushed back from his forehead except for a single lock which defies him and hangs in his face. He wears a dark teal outfit with … boot chaps /)_(\ idek this outfit design... and bracers on his arm. The left arm appears more heavily armored than his right as are his hips.
Cause of Death: Lancer was fighting a battle against Saber when Saber’s Master Kiritsugu found Lancer’s Master Kayneth. Kiritsugu held Sola-Ui, Kayneth’s fiancee, hostage and manipulated Kayneth into using his last command spell to force Lancer to stab himself in the chest with his lance Gae Dearg.
Impact of Death: Rage and betrayal. Lancer died for a second time betrayed by the man he called his lord and master, not knowing the circumstances behind the command. He simply knew that his chance to overcome the unhappy ending of his first death was stolen away in a replay of the original tragedy.
Character Info:
Lancer is a knight's knight. It's kind of like being a man's man except with knights. He is all about loyalty and honor and duty to his lord. He derives a great amount of pride in being a knight and serving his chosen lord to the fullest extent of his ability. He’s proud of his fighting ability and believes in a certain code of conduct amongst knights, and he believes that following the code will bring honor to himself, his opponent, and most of all to his lord. He’s also a little arrogant and cocky because of his skills. He knows he’s strong. He knows he’s good looking. He knows he’s good at what he does -- which is be a knight. He’s a cock sure kid and has the skills to back it. Overall, he’s someone who wants to be a good person and a good knight and follows a code of conduct which keeps him in line with that. He’s also somewhat naive in his belief that others follow (or even acknowledge) the same codes.
Now, the thing about Lancer’s story in Fate/Zero is that it’s his life repeated in miniature. Lancer’s true name is Diamuid Ua Duibhne, a legendary figure from Irish mythology. He is the son of Donn and a warrior of the Fianna, and he goes on to serve Fionn as the first knight of the Fianna. He’s incredibly proud of this, and he loves his lord and serves him with the utmost pride and honor. He would have remained that way, happily serving his lord if it hadn’t been for his lord’s young fiancee, Grainne, who fell in love with Diarmuid because of a cursed love-mark which causes any woman who sees it to fall in love with him. Well, she did, and she laid a geis on him to force him to run away with her and essentially betray his lord.
Did you see it right there? He had to betray his lord for her. NOT GOOD. This caused a lot of internal conflict because Diamuid first and foremost is loyal knight to his lord. He loves his lord. He wants only to serve him.
Eventually after getting chased around for a while by his former comrades, Diarmuid is pardoned by his lord and his marriage to Grainne is recognized. He is RELIEVED and SO HAPPY because he gets his wife (whom he’s fallen in love with as well for her ability to throw off pride and duty for love) and his lord to whom he’s still hopelessly devoted. He gets to be a knight again and serve him and it’s the happiest time in his life.
Then he goes out hunting boar with his lord one day and mortally wounded. Fionn has the ability to save him, but still bears a grudge against him because of Grainne, and he deliberately allows Diarmuid to die. Diarmuid sees what is happening, but he forgives his lord because he loves him and he knows that he betrayed his lord’s trust first.
Did I mention Diarmuid’s incredibly forgiving sometimes? Because he can be. He forgives Grainne laying the geis on him and forcing him to betray his lord. He forgives Fionn for allowing him to die for his betrayal of him. He’s 100% willing to forgive the people he loves.
Anyway -- Fate/Zero. Diarmuid get’s summoned as the Servant Lancer. His Masters (PLURAL YES) are Kayneth and his fiancee, Sola-Ui. Once again, the fiancee falls for him. Once again, the only master he acknowledges become insanely jealous of this. Diarmuid truly wishes only to serve his lord and finds his utmost happiness in being able to do that to the best of his abilities, but Kayneth cannot see his loyalty and devotion past his own condemnation of Lancer for not being a better summons and for his jealousy over Sola making eyes at him. He cannot see that Diarmuid would do anything that Kayneth AND ONLY KAYNETH would ask of him. Diarmuid does not return Sola’s feelings and does everything for his lord. Kayneth constantly verbally and emotionally abuses Lancer, and Lancer submits to it because he wants desperately to serve his lord.
The tragedy of his repetition of life continues on into his second death as well, when Kayneth uses an inviolable command to force Lancer to kill himself. After suffering vast amounts of humiliations because of Kayneth’s lack of understanding and arrogance, Lancer dies cursing his master and everyone else involved in his demise because they stole away his second chance to be the loyal knight he wanted to be, when that was the only thing in the world he wished to accomplish.
Abilities (before Powercap):
-- Extremely capable fighter with both spears and swords. Two handed weapons feat. (2 swords/2 spears)
-- Eye of the mind: “Capable of calm analysis of battle conditions even when in danger and deduce an appropriate course of action after considering all possibilities to escape from a predicament. So long there is even a 1% chance of a comeback, this ability greatly improves the chances of winning.”
-- Exceptional speed.
-- Magic resistance: only high level magic a threat to him
-- Possesses a love spot beneath his right eye which causes any woman who gazes upon him to fall in love with him unless they posses incredibly high resistance to magic.
-- Remaining Noble Phantasm: Gae Dearg which is capable of cutting through mage works and spell crafted defenses. (see items brought in)
-- Very strong.
-- Ridic agility.
Abilities (after Powercap):
-- =_(\;;;; strong willed women will be able to resist falling in love with him. He will actually be grateful for this. Even not strong willed women will not have to fall in love with him. He will just have a strong attraction for them.
-- Strength: Diarmuid will move from being inhumanly strong to being humanly strong. He can’t crumple container boxes, but he can shove his lance into a beast’s chest and kill them assuming the beast is not armored in some way.
-- Agility: Diarmuid, I don’t think, could ever dodge bullets, but he is incredibly agile. He won’t be able to miss all things flung in his direction. He’s not omniscient so if poisoned needles at shot from behind he’s going to get hit. However, he will be able to dodge or mitigated a lot of damage from a creature he is aware of and actively facing.
-- Speed: Human level sprinter and long distance runner. Not ridiculous levels of either (he cannot run a mile in 3 minutes or a marathon in 2 hours), but he’s damn fast (maybe a 5 minute mile and a 4 hour marathon).
-- Gae Dearg: Diarmuid’s spear, while capable of cutting through mage-crafts, is not strong enough to damage god-implemented workings. (It never could, just thought I’d mention this.) Since most of nature doesn’t seem to be based on magic, this will probably not have much effect since he will be unlikely to fight against other people in Thusia. Otherwise, it’s just a 2m long spear. :|a
Items Brought In:
Gae Dearg -- a two meter long spear that renders magical enhancements and projections useless by severing all ties with prana (magical energies). He normally keeps it wrapped in a talisman cloth to seal its abilities. It cannot be defended against except by physical means.
He has nothing else to bring with him ;-;
Third person sample on the subject of your choice.
Betrayed. For the second time he had been betrayed. The first time he forgave his lord who let his life literally run through his fingers time and time again. He understood that Lord Fionn had been betrayed before. He had stolen his lord's fiancee after all. Unintentionally, of course, but though he had come to love Grainne, he understood. As he laid dying before him, he understood. He could see it in the man's eyes through the pain of the boar's tusks. His own betrayal shined behind his eyes, and he had accepted the betrayal though those around him cried in outrage on his behalf. He forgave it though his heart longed for life and the true forgiveness of his lord.
The second time he cursed his master and everyone else involved, who had cost him his second chance at life. This betrayal hurt more than the first. Master Kayneth was nothing like the Lord Fionn. He was a master who had never wanted him and who could not understand his desires merely to serve him and fight for him with honor and pride. He did not understand his loyalty and devotion to his master. Kayneth only saw how his young fiancee had watched him and had fallen under the curse placed upon him. His master could not understand that he would never betray him like that, that he did not want to repeat the past.
And still, he had been betrayed a second time, and this one he could not forgive. It burned through his chest with the blade of his spear and tore curses from his lips. He had fallen into the darkness again never hoping, never expecting to have yet another chance.
Standing before the simple alter of glass and stone, Diarmuid touched his face surprised to find tears still wet upon his cheeks. He refused to meet the gaze of the woman standing before him. If he did not, he would not have to see the agonizing shine of unnatural love for him in her eyes. Taking a knee before her, he bowed his head.
“Who am I to serve?”
